Falkland Centre for Stewardship
Falkland Centre for Stewardship exists to promote the practice of stewardship locally and the philosophy of stewardship in 21st century Scotland and beyond. Falkland Centre for Stewardship understand stewardship as the act and art of holding and nurturing assets for others – including the next generation. The asset in question may be an organisation, a tradition, a building, a landscape, or at the highest level the planet’s natural resources and ecosystem. Stewardship is about responsible, long-term management. Good stewards draw from the past, mind the future and always look beyond themselves.

Falkland Centre for Stewardship is responsible for the care and revival of the Grade A House of Falkland with its Arts and Crafts interiors and designed landscape. It also runs the Big Tent festival, Scotland's festival of stewardship. For more information on this year's festival, see the website
Big Tent 2007.

Falkland Conservation Group
Falkland Conservation Group carry out outdoor tasks regularly throughout the year.  Activities include tree, hedge and wildflower planting, causing grief to invasive plants, light path maintenance and repairing anything from ponds to dry-stone walls.  We’re aged 20 (ish) to 50 (very ‘ish) and the craik is as important as the satisfaction in a job well done. Falkland Conservation Group meet monthly. For more information please contact Michael Hughes, task organiser by email.

Falkland in Bloom
Falkland-in-Bloom's main aim is to improve the local environment in the burgh of Falkland. This is done in many ways - through horticulture, recycling, sustainability and encouraging the conservation of the landscape and biodiversity. All plants are grown in their poly-tunnel, sited centrally and maintained in season by volunteers. It is an entirely voluntary group that has been in existence for 20 years. This year is an exciting one for Falkland-in-Bloom as Falkland is one of only two communities representing the United Kingdom in Entente Florale. For more information please contact Keith Jackson, Chair by email.

Falkland Society
Falkland Society looks after the historical records of Falkland, be they documents, photographs or artefacts. Throughout the winter months, the Society holds monthly meetings which feature guest speakers. For more information please contact John Smith, Chair by email.

Fife Air Cadets Conservation Group

The Fife Air Cadets Conservation Group [FACCG] is an environmental organisation working with young people from the Air Cadet Organisation, Scout Association and many families. It works in partnership with communities across Fife to restore and conserve wild and urban places as an important part of getting the youngsters to learn about the natural heritage of Scotland, and promote active citizenship in the community while taking part in the John Muir Award and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Under its motto of “Working together for tomorrow’s future” it has a well established track record in providing young people with a wide range of opportunities for discovering and exploring wild areas, learning countryside skills and crafts, and at the same time their personal development while undertaking practical conservation tasks. Over many years FACCG has spent thousands of hours in Falkland helping with woodland management, planting trees and new hedgerows, rebuilding dry stonewalls, organising community clear ups, and restoring historic footpaths. Through its sponsorship with the Smith Anderson Group, it endeavors to work with the company to clear up areas within the factory site at Falkland, by making environmental and visual improvements. At the start of 2007 we moved our “Secret Garden – Grow your Own” project to Falkland, which over the years, not only has allowed the young people to learn about horticulture whilst growing their own garden produce, but has also ensured that the wildlife around the garden is encouraged and protected.
Throughout 2007 the Fife Air Cadets Conservation Group will continue to promote active communities and responsible citizenship in Falkland by encouraging every young person to make their contribution.
